Disney Interview

For my research project I chose to interview a third grade teacher at the public elementary school. Her name is Mrs. Godfrey. I felt that her opinions are not necessarily expertise but I know she is very experienced and see’s her students many hours out of the day and many days out of the years. She observes the children’s interactions day in and out. I thought that her opinions and observations were very helpful. She actually put my research paper into a clearer perspective. Most of my resources point towards the idea that Disney has a deep impact. However most of them are focused on the old Disney animations such as Cinderella and Snow White. It seems that Mrs. Godfrey feels that her 3rd grade students are into Hannah Montana and more modern movies and shows. She said that they do not have Little Mermaid backpacks and a Lion King lunch box. The girls have Hannah Montana t-shirts and the boys don’t seem to very influenced by Disney. Perhaps this is due to a change in the generations and Disney’s media. Or possibly 3rd grade is considered too old. This opens up the idea as too how influential Disney is. If they once watched these movies and have moved onto newer things, with no current signs of influence, then maybe it isn’t harmful at all.
