As I had stated in my earlier blog, three possible candidates to interview was my mom, grandma, or grandpa or one of my younger cousins. I chose these three because each was from different generations, and had each grown up with Disney. On the downside, I was only able to interview my mom. I had to interview her through the phone, although it was more of a discussion than an interview. I had told her about my paper and how it had brought up so many points of views that I had not noticed growing up, or even until I started this research paper. We started discussing the movies I had grown up with and how these stereotypes have changed from my generation to the younger generation’s movies. My mom had agreed with the fact that she had not noticed these kinds of stereotypes either. After I had given her my examples in Pocahontas, Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Snow White, she had also agreed with these stereotypes given to the characters. She became intrigued with this topic, just as my RWC conference editor and Ms. O’Malley. After mentioning these points of stereotypes in Disney movies, my mom began to ask me questions on what I had found. I told her that I was still in the process of finding articles, but that I had found that many cultures had objected to Disney movies. She also brought up the question of “Does the time period of these movies have anything to do with their stereotypes?” I also mentioned that I am still in the midst of trying to find an interview with a person from Disney Corporate as to why such stereotypes had been created, or why they had been altered over the decades. In all honesty, my mom didn’t help much with my research paper. I feel like I need to find an interview with a person from Disney Corporate, as I said earlier. Although, my mom’s interest in this subject has also made my interest grow, wanting to find the answers to all my questions. Unfortunately, I know I won’t be able to incorporate much of this interview into my paper. This interview had not done much with my actual knowledge, but it just grew my interest in the topic. Besides, who would say anything is actually wrong with Disney?
