police as a community

One community that I found it very interesting to explore is that of the police. When I was just messing around online the other day I say that there had been 7 police officers that were shot and 4 of then died last week. This is really sad but one thing that I found that was really interesting was how they banded together and were like a family. I do want to be a police office when I graduate so this is very interesting to me. But one thing that really stuck out to me was that they are so close and such a strong community because of what they have to deal with everyday (the idiots and the danger) that the co workers (the other officers) were grieving just as much as the actual blood related family was. I thought that this would be really interesting to investigate because we don’t think of the police as being a family but more as being the people that save hostages and who pull us over and write us speeding tickets. With all of this said I was very intrigued with the uniqueness of this community and thought that this would be a great one to analyze and dig deeper into.
